Indican Urine Testing
There is a scientific barometer that can be used to measure the presence of lectins and bowel putrefaction in our system, an accurate and simple test called the Indican Scale.
When the liver and intestines don’t properly metabolize proteins, they produce toxic by-products called indoles. Improper digestion and overgrowth of abnormal bacterial populations in the intestines can impact on the results of the Indican urine test.
A urine sample is mixed with reagents and then evaluated. If the test results are positive, it may suggest gastrointestinal toxicity as a result of protein putrefaction, a most common form of bowel toxicity.
The causes of “Toxic Bowel Syndrome” can be:
- Protein maldigestion.
- Intestinal overgrowth of unfriendly organisms.
- Insufficient healthy gut flora.
- High stress lifestyles.
- High sugar diets.
- Over eating.
- Gastrointestinal infections and infestation.
- Oral antibiotic therapy.
- Nutritional deficiencies.
- Intestinal mucosal damage.
- Food sensitivities and allergies.
- Auto-immune diseases.
Dietary and lifestyle practices have produced an increasing number of health disorders caused by a malfunctioning digestive tract and the toxicity that results from it. The identification of bowel toxicity, followed by effective treatment, may be invaluable to many patients.
