Our Approach

Colin & Olive Harris are known for their dedicated and compassionate approach to helping clients regain their optimal health and wellbeing for their age and stage of life.

At Nurtura Health, your Naturopath will consider your ailment from the point of “why is there a problem or discomfort”, not “what is wrong with you”. What is underlying your symptoms? Our Practitioners commitment to your long-term health, is to work with you to regain optimal function and not just mask the symptoms.

Your Naturopath will first conduct a consultation, examination and any other assessments they consider necessary. These may include Iridology or Live Blood Analysis and/or questionnaires to gather a comprehensive history and symptoms.

If at the end of your evaluation the Naturopath feels you will respond favourably to care at Nurtura Health, a course of therapy will be suggested. It is important to understand that your health is in your control. Ultimately, your choice of treatment options will be respected.

“Dis-ease” does not just appear. Unwellness and discomfort are the eventual manifestation of a subtle, underlying sequence of changes in the body. These subtle changes may be taking effect for a number of years prior to your “dis-ease”.  The length of time to regain health and the cost involved will directly depend on the nature and severity of your condition and your own ability to respond favourably to, and your compliance with the recommended treatment plan.

Naturopathic Medicine, or Naturopathy, is a practice used by our Practitioners to prevent, assess and support conditions of the human mind and body. Our Naturopaths work with you in an endeavour to restore and rebalance body function. By integrating conventional health sciences with a range of natural therapies and traditional medicines, your Naturopath supports you in your quest to regain a balanced, emotional & physical state.

The Benefits Of Naturopathy

A Naturopath is trained to employ safe and effective natural therapies that will support and stimulate the healing power of nature in the gentlest, least invasive and most efficient manner possible. Naturopaths use a range of methods to assist in the healing process including:

  • Western Herbal Medicine
  • Nutrition, dietary and lifestyle recommendations
  • Vitamins and Minerals
  • Flower Essences
  • Iridology and
  • Massage

The individual is viewed and treated in naturopathic medicine as a whole, composed of a complex interaction of physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, social and other factors. Thus clients suffering from a simple everyday cold, as well as more serious, chronic conditions such as allergies and inflammations, may benefit from naturopathic treatment.

An initial appointment can take from ½ hour to 2 hours, in which your medical history and general lifestyle will be reviewed. They like to take the time to be thorough with assessment, discussion, collating their findings and developing a health management program individually for each person.

Naturopathy is suitable for all age groups, from young babies to the elderly, and in most cases is complementary to orthodox medicine. Any orthodox treatments or prescription medications will be taken into account in any recommended treatment plan.
